The original club logo showing a silhouette of a red Siberian was adopted in the Fall of 1969, it was only recently updated to its current version
In May 1970 SHCNE applied to the AKC to allow our Siberian dog show, this took until the fall of 1972 to become a reality. AKC required our constitution and by-laws be made consistent with the AKC form. The AKC would not accept a local specialty club with a name denoting a specific geographic area, so in June of 1972 the club officially became Yankee Siberian Husky Club
In the Fall of 1970, club members toured the Chinook Kennels at Wonalancet, NH for the 50th anniversary of the kennels
The first "working day" was held at Foss Field in Carlisle, MA on September 27, 1970. A wheel training clinic demonstration with varied rigs took place, harnesses and ganglines were available, and many questions answered
The first specialty dog show was held in December 1978 at the Eastern Dog Club Show at Hynes Auditorium in Boston
The first independent specialty was held at Wilmington Industrial Park, June 1st, 1979
In November 1979, the regular meetings of YSHC began to be held in Bedford, MA on Mudge Way
The Sandwich Notch 60 Sled Dog Race began in 1982, continuing until 2007 when it was discontinued
For many years, YSHC sponsored "working day" which consisted of lectures, trial runs, education, and support for sled dog beginners in Auburn NH
For over 10 years and counting YSHC has been hosting the annual Sled Dog Demonstration at Houghton's Pond in Canton, MA
